Many people look to used cars to get a great deal on some reliable transportation. While the best values among used cars aren't usually the flashiest choices, here are five great deals on different models.
The Acura TSX offers compact luxury in a tidy package for not a lot of money. Its four-cylinder engine is fuel efficient and it has good safety results -- all versions come with a complete set of airbags and modern safety tech. Prices range from under $10,000 for an early 2004 model to less than $20,000 for a clean second-generation model.
Want a luxury sedan with all-wheel drive and around 300 horsepower? The 2005-2012 Acura RL was always loaded with tons of technology and power, but its lack of popularity on the new car market makes it a bargain as a used car. It's been reliable too, which isn't something you can say about a lot of luxury cars from this era.
Value has always been part of the Hyundai Sonata's message, but since 2006 it's been a rival for some of the best midsize sedans around. Used Sonatas are thousands less than comparable Camrys and Accords, and yet they are loaded with even more equipment and all feature a full roster of safety equipment – including electronic stability control -- so you don't have to hunt around to get one of the safest sedans for less than $10,000.
Among three-row crossovers, the Mazda CX-9 has never been the most popular. But it has been a spacious and relatively fun-to-drive choice that is very well-priced. And considering even models as recent as 2010 start below $20,000, it's a great idea if you need the seats.
It's really hard to go wrong with a Toyota Prius as good value among used cars. Besides its fuel efficiency and flexibility, even 10-year-old examples are fitted with features such as keyless start -- some even have Bluetooth. With their popularity, there are plenty of examples around the $10,000 mark, and current generation models start at around $15,000.
