Many high school aged boys start thinking about cars for prom as early as their freshman year. Driving the right car (or at least a car) to prom is a rite of passage for many American teenage boys. It can signify the end of innocence for a young boy and the beginning of manhood as he makes his most public appearance to date with a young lady.
While every teenage boy dreams of driving the coolest car possible to the prom, it is a harsh reality that not every guy can afford the hottest car. While finding classic cars for rent at cheap prices is usually not possible, there are cheaper (although not as cool) options.
By far the cheapest option for a prom car is your mom or dad's car. In fact, you may already be driving it. You'll need to keep in mind that if you want to drive your parents' car to the prom, you'll probably need to keep your grades up and stay out of trouble.
Although not as cool as driving a vintage model Corvette or Ford Mustang to the prom, renting a limo with a group of friends is an affordable option. If you can get for five other guys to chip in with you, you can rent a very nice limousine that will impress your date. You can save even more money by renting the limousine only for the prom entrance and then arrange for another car to pick you up afterward.
You may be able to find a car dealership that is willing to rent you a used car. In fact, you may be surprised that you can rent some attractive later model used cars for much less than you could rent one from a new car rental agency.
