2007 Chevrolet Silverado Warranty Information

The 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was available in three models: the1500, 2500 and 3500. The numerical designations represented the weight of the Silverado as 1/2-, 3/4- and 1-ton, respectively. Each model was available with an array of trims and several engine options. Regardless of model, trim or options, the Silverado came with the standard 2007 Chevrolet warranty.

Types

  • Chevrolet provided three types of warranties on the 2007 Silverado, including basic, powertrain and rust. Basic warranties, also known as bumper to bumper, covered every component of the Silverado from manufacturer's defect. The powertrain warranty provided additional coverage on specific powertrain components for a longer period of time than the basic warranty. Rust warranties protected the Silverado from rust-through corrosion.

Time Frame

  • Warranty coverage began from the original purchase date of any specific 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. The basic warranty provided 36 months or 36,000 miles, which ever occurred first, of coverage. The powertrain warranty provided coverage for 60 months or 100,000 miles, and the rust warranty was active for 72 months or 100,000 miles.

Warning

  • Warranties on the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado did not cover general routine maintenance and did not excuse an owner from performing such duties.

Considerations

  • Additional warranties and service plans could be purchased through the GM Protection Plan, the only General Motors-endorsed contracts available. These contracts could be used to supplement the manufacturer's warranties on new 2007 Silverados, or could be obtained on 2007 Chevrolet Silverados that were purchased used. GM Protection Plans can be purchased at any GM or Chevrolet dealership.

Expert Insight

  • Chevrolet says its powertrain warranties covered engine components, including the “Cylinder head, block, timing gears, timing chain, timing cover, oil pump/oil pump housing, OHC carriers valve covers, oil pan, seals, gaskets, turbocharger, supercharger and all internal lubricated parts as well as manifolds, flywheel, water pump, harmonic balancer and engine mount.” They went on to say, “timing belts are covered until the first scheduled maintenance interval.”
