How Do You Operate a Case 850C Dozer?

A Case 850C dozer is similar to the 850B and 850C model dozers. The 850C has a lever drive transmission that drives and steers the direction of the dozer. The 850C model dozer is big enough to tackle larger projects yet compact enough to use on smaller projects. The dozer can be driven and operated from the levers on the middle console and the right-hand side console. Knowing how to properly operate the Case 850C give you an advantage when completing your projects.

Things You'll Need

  • Case 850C dozer
  • Check the engine oil level and the coolant level before operating the dozer.

  • Climb into the operator's seat, and familiarize yourself with the operation levers. The far right-hand side lever tilts the blade from left to right. The near right-hand side lever lowers and raises the front blade. The two levers on the middle console drive and steer the dozer.

  • Turn the ignition key until the dozer engine cranks. Hold the brake pedal down with your left foot, and increase the engine idle by pressing on the gas pedal. Raise the front blade by pulling upward on the blade lever.

  • Release the brake pedal. Drive the dozer forward by pushing inward on both of the center console levers at the same time. Press the gas pedal to increase the speed of the dozer.

  • Turn the dozer to the left by pulling back on the left-hand side center console lever and pushing forward on the right-hand side center console lever, at the same time.

  • Turn the dozer to the right by pulling back on the right-hand side center console lever and pushing forward on the left-hand side center console lever. To push dirt, lower the blade to the ground by pushing down on the blade lever. Drive the dozer forward with the blade down to push the dirt out of the way. Raise and lower the blade as the ground pitch changes.

  • Back-drag the dirt by driving the dozer in reverse with the blade on the ground. Pull back on both center console levers at the same time, and press the gas pedal in to drive the dozer in reverse. Raise and lower the blade as the ground pitch changes.

  • Angle the blade as the ground pitch angles by pulling the blade angle lever toward the left or right.
