How to Tow a Lexus Behind a Motorhome

Towing a Lexus behind a motorhome provides you a second vehicle for local trips when you reach your destination. The ideal way to tow a vehicle is with a tow dolly. This raises the front wheels of the Lexus off the ground and secures them to the trailer. Your RV needs to have enough towing capacity to manage the weight of the car. This rating is located inside the owner's manual in the capacities section.

Things You'll Need

  • Tow dolly
  • Connect the tow dolly's coupler to the motorhome's hitch by lowering it on and locking it in place with the latch. Lock the latch with a hitch pin through the handle.

  • Push the motorhome's electrical plug into the vehicle's electrical receiver. Connect the left motorhome chain to the right side of the hitch and the right chain to the left side.

  • Pull the tow dolly's ramps out of their housing with your hands.

  • Drive the Lexus up the ramps slowly until the front wheels are in the towing position.

  • Wrap the tire straps over the front tires and secure tightly in place with the ratchets.

  • Guide the tow dolly's security chain around the frame of the vehicle and connect it back to the trailer. Be careful not to wrap the chain around electrical wires or brake lines. The chain does not need to be tight.

  • Slide the tow dolly's ramps back into their housing.

  • Place the Lexus's transmission in neutral and check that the parking brake is off.
