How to Disable the ESP on a Dodge Challenger

ESP stands for Electronic Stability Protection. This is a safety feature on the Dodge Challenger. When one of the wheels begins to lose traction or spin, the ESP system reduces power to the specific wheel. This can help you stay in control. Dodge does not recommend disabling the ESP system, but the control panel allows you to do so. Disabling the ESP system works only for the current driving cycle. The next time you start your engine, you'll need to disable the ESP again.

  • Sit in your Challenger's driver seat. Crank the engine.

  • Inspect the center stack beneath the radio. You'll see a row of black buttons. Look for the button with the icon of a car swerving out of control. This is the button you'll use to disable the ESP.

  • Push the button to disable the ESP. Inspect your odometer display. Next to the mileage reading, you should see a display that reads "ESP OFF." This lets you know the ESP is disabled for the driving cycle.
