How to Rent a Car With No Credit Card Required

Although credit cards are the preferred payment for renting a vehicle, it is possible to rent a car without a credit card. Because you do need some form of payment, some car rental facilities will accept a debit card and keep it on hand just in case there is damage to the vehicle. Thankfully, paying with a debit card is almost identical to paying with a credit card in terms of procedure.

Things You'll Need

  • Debit card
  • Contact the rental facility you want to rent the car from (or use an online travel reservation provider such as Expedia, Travelocity or Priceline).

  • Select the days you want to rent the car from and what kind of vehicle you like.

  • Provide your driver's license information. This way, the rental facility can determine if you are 25 or not. If you are under 25, you'll have to pay higher taxes to rent the vehicle.

  • Input your debit card information. Select "Submit" once you have finished including the information. Once you submit the debit card information, a credit check will verify that you're good for the payments (a low credit score prevents you from being allowed to rent the vehicle).

  • Pick up the vehicle and provide both your debit card and drivers license to prove you are who you say you are. Once everything checks out you are free to drive off with the vehicle.
