The built-in garage door opener control is generally located either on the visor or on the console. It is often marked with a home icon and sometimes called HomeLink---Ford's name for it---or something similar. There can be two elements to the process. Programming the in-vehicle equipment to match your existing remote control is often enough to make the system work. Sometimes however, a further step is required, which is to teach the garage receiver to recognize the vehicle equipment.
Place the end of the existing remote opener a few inches away from the control button on the vehicle's visor or console. Keep the vehicle's indicator light in view. Press the vehicle's transmit button and the existing remote's transmit button at the same time.
Release the buttons when the vehicle's indicator light changes from a slow flash to a fast flash.
Press the vehicle's button for five seconds up to two times and the garage door should rise. If it rises, there are no further steps to take. If it doesn't, proceed to the next step.
Press the vehicle's button again and observe the light. If it blinks rapidly for two seconds and then becomes constant, it means your garage uses a rolling-type code and further steps are required.
Press the "Learn" button on the garage door equipment. You may have to refer to the door's instructions. Press the vehicle's button again for two seconds and repeat up to three times. The garage will learn your vehicle's built-in garage door opener codes and rise.
