New Jersey Drivers Continue to Take Unnecessary Driving Risks

Recently released statistics from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety reveal that one in five drivers has been seriously injured or killed as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
One in three drivers has had a loved one that has been seriously injured or killed in a car accident. Despite these high odds, New Jersey drivers continue to take unnecessary driving risks on the roads.

The AAA Foundation Traffic Safety Culture Index lists the most common risky driving behaviors as running red traffic lights, speeding on residential streets, driving while drowsy and driving while texting or emailing. Other drivers report that they continue to use hands-free technology which has been proven to lead to cognitive distraction.

Even though the vast majority of drivers report that these unsafe driving behaviors are unacceptable, these risky behaviors continue on New Jersey roads. For example, over 80% of drivers believe that drowsy driving is an unacceptable driving behavior yet almost 30% of drivers admitted to doing so. Despite the large body of research indicating that these risky driving behaviors can lead directly to car accident injuries, many drivers continue to engage in these behaviors.

Car accidents can result in devastating physical injuries including sprained or broken bones, paralysis, traumatic brain injuries or concussions, loss of limbs, spinal injuries, eye injuries and internal bleeding. When the negligence of another driver, auto manufacturer or road designer is the cause of the car accident that results in your injuries, you may be able to receive compensation. To ensure that all of your rights are protected, calling an experienced New Jersey car accident lawyer is the first step in obtaining the compensation to which you are entitled.
