Neglecting Safety On The Roads Proves Deadly for Teen

After neglecting to wear a seat belt, a Kansas teen sustained fatal injuries in a single-vehicle auto accident on the state highway.
Although safety should be a top priority anytime one gets behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, all too often motorists neglect to take simple precautionary measures to ensure that they arrive alive. Teenage drivers tend to be the most prone to these types of auto accidents, as they are the most inexperienced and easily distracted drivers on the roads. Whether it be driving while distracted or failing to wear a seat belt, most young motorists tend to ignore even the most basic safety rules only to suffer the significant (and sometimes deadly) consequences.

The importance of staying safe while driving is highlighted in a recent single-vehicle car accident that claimed the life of one K
ansas teen and injured two others.

In the early morning hours of October 20th, the 19 year-old driver of a Honda Accord lost control of their vehicle and skidded into a ditch. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 17 year-old passenger was ejected from the car after it struck a rock wall and overturned. Both the driver and another teenage passenger were transported by emergency medical crews to the nearby hospital where the driver was eventually pronounced dead.

While this tragic auto accident is still under investigation, law enforcement officials maintain that none of the teenagers inside the vehicle were wearing their seat belts. Even though speed, inexperience, or distracted driving could have all played a factor in this case, the driver may still be alive had he buckled up before starting up the car. Seat belts don't prevent every car accident injury and fatality from happening, but they do significantly increase the chances of a driver or passenger escaping a gruesome collision alive.

Regardless of whether one is driving or along for the ride, don't become another statistic - buckle up!
