Recent Car Accidents In Florida And Michigan Result In Multiple Fatalities

Car accidents are an unfortunate fact of life for most people. Often these accidents are minor, resulting a minor injuries. However, serious car accidents occur every single day. Unfortunately many of these accidents are fatal.
Recently, three people were killed in an accident on a South Florida Interstate. Two adults and three teens were fatally injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday, April 13. The accident happened on an accident ramp when a Mercedes ran a red light and hit a Lexus. All of the passengers in the Lexus died. "The Mercedes failed to stop for the traffic signal and T-boned the Lexus," said a police officer of the Florida Sun-Sentinel.

After the Lexus was hit, it rolled over and into a tree. Several of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle. Four of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, and the fifth was taken to a hospital and treated but did not survive. The five teens
who died ranged in ages from 18-22. Two were males and three were females.

The driver of the Mercedes was transported to a hospital. He was not cooperating with investigators.
Weather conditions can increase the likelihood of serious accidents in some areas of the country. Two dozen people were injured and three were killed one day in January in 10 collisions. The white out conditions made for very dangerous driving, and the multiple vehicle collision happened in zero visibility, according to a Michigan Department of Transportation representative. "Visibility was reduced to zero and an incident occurred and then you had a chain reaction multi-car pile-up," he said.

Adverse weather conditions can make accidents more likely, but as the Florida accident shows, reckless driving can happen under any weather conditions.

Whether it is due to careless drivers, unfavorable weather conditions, or aggressive drivers, accidents happen all too frequently. Other drivers can be unpredictable, but when another driver is negligent and it causes an accident, they need to be held accountable.
