A Father’s Day Celebration He’ll Love

Father’s Day is approaching, and rather then read a few sappy poems or recommending that you buy another tie for the closet, we decided to think about what Father’s Day means to us at RVShare, and likely, what it means to you guys. We know this: the men in our lives don’t want that tie, nor do they prefer any of the other standard gifts, such as coffee mugs with their children’s faces on them (although, of course, they would love whatever gifts they receive….). They are men who enjoy the great outdoors, and they deserve to celebrate Father’s Day accordingly!

This is the 103rd official Father’s Day, and the holiday has undergone social transformations over time. Initially, it was intended to “to establish more intimate relations between fathers and their children and to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations.” Currently, it’s not so much about reminding them of their obligations, but rather to show appreciation for the meaningful father figures in our lives: our dads, grandfathers, uncles, husbands and more.

Perhaps your father taught you to fish, or to throw a ball, or to tie your shoe… he undoubtedly spent countless hours helping you become the person you are today. Now it’s time to celebrate who he is, as a father and as a person. We have a few ideas for gifts, or ways to celebrate, with the “outdoorsy man” in your life:

BBQ
Nothing’s manlier than the act of lighting up a grill and cookin’ some meat – let him do what he does best. Organize a family cookout and help by preparing the side dishes and desserts. As a gift, you can get him this Jesse Steele BBQ Apron and/or this three-piece BBQ Condiment Set.

Quality Time
We can’t ever stress enough the importance of playing outdoors. There are plenty of good games to play, including classics like Bocce Ball and Horseshoe. Order one of these classic games, and then get the whole family together to play.

Support his Hobbies
Does he golf? Make your gift extra-special by getting Personalized Golf Balls. If he enjoys a nice cold beer, try this Growler set, with 4 pint glasses and chalkboard surfaces.

RV Memberships
If your dad loves to RV as much as we’re sure he does, then he would certainly appreciate you footing the bill for his favorite (or a new!) RV organization. This site is full of great ideas, but one we loved was the America the Beautiful Pass – it gives free entrance to most national parks, forest , BLM Land, and monuments.

All in all, no matter what gift you choose, remember this: Father’s Day is about appreciation and love – you can’t go wrong with that.
