How to Remove Trim From Windshield on a Mustang

The Ford Mustang, one of the automaker's most popular vehicles, has been in continuous production since 1964. The Mustang is fairly simple to work on, and factory and aftermarket parts are in abundance. Removing the windshield trim from your Mustang takes less than five minutes and requires only one tool.

Things You'll Need

  • Window Molding Removal Tool
  • Obtain a Window Molding Removal Tool. You can find a general model at your local auto parts store. The tool will remove the trim from any vehicle. You can also find a Ford-specific model online or at your local Ford dealership or any auto parts store.

  • Clean your windshield. Any time you start a new project, you want to make sure the area you will be working on is clean.

  • Remove the windshield wipers. This will allow easy access to the window trim. Simply slide the windshield wiper blade assembly out of the wiper arm of your Mustang.

  • Remove the trim. Gently slide the Window Molding Removal Tool between the window and the trim, and lift the trim off your Mustang's windshield.

  • Dispose of the old windshield trim. You can recycle this trim at any facility that accepts rubber for recycling, or you can dispose of it in your regular trash. Your local auto parts store may also be able to recycle the old trim for you.
