How to Remove a Civic Windshield

After a major car accident or just a minor pebble hitting your windshield, you may choose to replace the windshield. Cracks in your windshield can reduce reaction time because of glares. Removing your Honda Civic's windshield is something you can do in your own garage with the right tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Protective Eyewear
  • Gloves
  • Windshield Seal Pry Tool
  • Windshield Wire Tool
  • Utility Knife
  • Purchase a windshield seal pry tool and a windshield wire tool from your local auto repair store.

  • Pry the seal up and off around the complete outside of the Civic windshield. You can save the seal, but when installing a new windshield it is best to use a new seal.

  • Run a windshield wire knife around the perimeter of the windshield to cut urethane glue holding the windshield down.

  • Sit in your car and push the windshield out. Have two friends with gloves on grab the windshield as it comes out.

  • Scrap the rest of the urethane glue off the windshield frame on the car with a utility knife.
