It has gone through numerous changes throughout it's history, including body styling, engine sizes, and interior or exterior options. In 1999 the Chevrolet Camaro had one option that comes standard on just about every vehicle model today: keyless entry. Keyless entry allows you to unlock the vehicle remotely, but when your remote fails, you need to replace it and program it to your Camaro.

  • Open the driver's door. Locate the instrument panel fuse panel at the end of the dash. Remove the fuse panel cover by lightly pulling on it. Locate the No. 17 radio fuse in the bottom right-hand corner of the panel and remove it. Shut the driver's side door and remain sitting in the drivers seat.

Programming the transmitter.

  • Turn the ignition key from off to run three times in five seconds. The doors should automatically lock and unlock indicating that the vehicle is in programming mode. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob for up to 16 seconds or until the doors lock and then unlock. Turn the ignition off. Install the radio fuse and replace the fuse panel cover.
