How to Remove the EATC on a Lincoln Town Car

The electronic automatic temperature control, also called the EATC, comes standard with the Lincoln Town Car. This small panel is used to control the car's air conditioning and heating, and is mounted beneath the radio. Although the EATC is attached only by a couple of bolts, there are a few components you'll need to remove prior to accessing the EATC mounting bolts themselves.

Things You'll Need

  • Pliers
  • 7mm socket wrench
  • Unhook the Town Car's negative battery cable using pliers. This prevents a short circuit while you are removing the EATC and radio components.

  • Remove the two bolts from the underside of the odometer hood. Grasp one side of the dash panel directly above the odometer hood. Grasp the other side above the radio. Pull the panel away firmly to remove it from the dash.

  • Remove the two bolts from above the analog dash clock. Slide the clock panel out to remove it, and then unplug it. Set it to the side. Now you'll see the radio mounting bolts.

  • Remove the four radio mounting bolts. Slide the radio forward and unplug the connections from the back. Set it to the side.

  • Remove the two mounting bolts from the EATC unit. Slide the unit toward you and unplug the harness from the back to remove it.
