How to Remove a Nissan Patrol Dash

Constant exposure to the sun can cause the dashboard of your Nissan Patrol to stretch out of place. When this occurs, the dash develops cracks and holes that can also damage the equipment housed within the dash. If any damage occurs to your dash, you should completely remove it so that it can be repaired or replaced.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Wrench set
  • Locate all of the knobs and dials on the electronic equipment attached to the front of the dash. Pull the dials away from the dash and put them in a safe place. Take care not to damage any of the equipment, as you will need to reinstall it later.

  • Open the hood of your Patrol. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt attached to the negative battery terminal and lift the negative battery cable out of the way.

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws attached to the glove compartment and the lower dash panels. Carefully pull the glove compartment away from the dash, then remove the rest of the lower panels.

  • Use the same screwdriver to remove the mounting screws attached to the instrument cluster and the radio bracket. Slide them both out of the dash. Unhook the electrical wiring from their rears and lift them both away from the dash.

  • Locate and remove the remaining mounting screws attached to the upper dash panels. Carefully lift the remaining panels from the vehicle, taking care not to damage the interior. Replace the negative cable on the battery terminal and reattach the clamp bolt to secure it.
