Wrangler Glove Box Removal

The glove box on a Jeep Wrangler is installed within the dashboard and is positioned slightly higher than it would be on many other vehicles. There can be some slight differences, but removing this glove box is little more than removing it from its hinges.

Basic Removal

  • On any model, removing the glove box starts with opening it up via the door latch. With the door open and lowered, you can access the hooks at the lower edge of the door. Disengage these hooks from the slots within the dashboard and remove the glove box from the dash.

Newer Models

  • Models made since 1997 have slight differences. On a 1997 Wrangler, you must depress the retaining tab on the right side of the door while supporting the door with your other hand, then pull the door open until the tab clears the opening. On 1998 and later models, support the door, grab the check strap on the side as close to the door as you can and slide the strap's rolled end out the door's edge.

Installation

  • To reinstall the box, you need to line up the bottom tabs within their slots as you slip the box into its opening in the dashboard. Reconnect the check strap or the retaining tab if the door uses either of them, then close the door.
