How to Turn of the TPMS Sensor on a Mustang GT

The Mustang GT is a high performance vehicle equipped with a TPMS, or tire pressure monitoring system. This electronic system relays tire pressure information from each tire to the driver through a gauge. The TPMS system is powered through a 25-amp fuse located inside the main fuse-box in the engine compartment.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Pliers
  • Open the hood. Turn the bolt on the negative battery-terminal counterclockwise with your socket set. Slip off the negative battery cable, and set it aside.

  • Open the lid of the main fuse panel in your engine compartment. It is situated to the immediate rear and right of the battery.

  • Find the fuse that controls the TPMS system in your Mustang. The exact fuse location varies with different GT models. Consult your owner's manual, or examine the fuse diagram printed on the inside of the fuse-box lid.

  • Pull out the TPMS fuse with a pair of pliers.
