How to Disable the Panic Button on a Honda Pilot

The panic button on the key fob for your Honda Pilot is a useful resource. When you press this button, it activates an alarm on your vehicle. If you're ever in a situation where you need to summon help, pressing the panic button will draw attention to your vehicle. Unfortunately, the panic button may be too sensitive; the slightest touch of the button may trigger the alarm. If you find the button is more of a nuisance than a benefit, you may disable it at any time.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Transparent tape
  • Wedge a flathead screwdriver into the seam of the key fob. Pry open the plastic case.

  • Remove the bottom half of the key fob and set it aside.

  • Hold the top half of the plastic case in your hand, with the buttons facing your palm.

  • Use the tip of your finger to gently lift the circuit board from the back of the rubber panic button. Set the circuit board aside.

  • Stick a piece of clear tape over the contacts on the back of the panic button.

  • Replace the circuit board and re-attach the bottom half of the key fob. Press down firmly on the key fob to close the case completely.
