How to Change the CX-7 Dash Lights

The Mazda CX-7 was a cross-over SUV that went on the market in 2006. The dash lights on the vehicle's instrument panel illuminate the gauges and meters so you can see and read them while driving at night. Dash light bulbs can burn out from time to time and need to be replaced. It takes about 15 minutes to change a dash light bulb on your CX-7

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Screwdrivers
  • Replacement dash light bulbs
  • Remove the CX-7's negative battery cable.

  • Remove two screws that hold the clear plastic instrument shield in place. They are located on the underside of the dash and can be removed with a screwdriver.

  • Remove the four Phillips-head screws that hold your CX-7's instrument panel in place. Once removed, pry the instrument panel out with a flat-head screwdriver, then unplug the two wiring harnesses from the back of the panel by hand.

  • Remove the burned out bulb by pulling it out by hand. Slip the replacement bulb into its place, then attach the two wiring harnesses back to the rear of your CX-7's instrument panel.

  • Slide the instrument panel back into place and install its mounting screws with your screwdriver. Put the clear instrument panel shield back in place and install its screws.

  • Re-attach the negative battery cable to your CX-7's battery.
