How to Change the Oil in a Yamaha Raider

Your Yamaha Raider is a motorcycle with a 113 cubic-inch engine with twin bore electronic fuel injection. The Yamaha Raider is a durable motorcycle, but it does require maintenance, including regular oil changes. Yamaha recommends the oil be changed in your Yamaha at least once every 2,000 to 3,000 miles. Only a few basic tools are needed to change the oil on your Yamaha Raider. The oil change itself takes 30 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench set
  • Drip pan
  • Yamaha oil filter
  • Slide the oil drip pan directly underneath the engine block of your Raider.

  • Place the end of your wrench around your Raider's oil drain plug bolt at the bottom of the engine and turn it to the left to unscrew it. Allow all the old oil to flow into the drain pan, then put the oil plug back and tighten it.

  • Unscrew your Raider's oil filter by hand. It is located on the left side of the engine. It will unscrew by hand. Screw your new filter in its place.

  • Open your oil fill cap at the top of your engine and pour 2.5 quarts of 10-W-40 motor oil into your engine. Replace your oil fill cap when you are done.
