How to Remove a Power Window Switch on a Pontiac Aztek

The power window switch of the Pontiac Aztek is mounted on the front of the door panel arm rest and is attached with screws to the door panel. Removing the window switch is a fairly simple job that can be completed in just a few minutes. Occasionally, the power window switch can short out or be damaged to the point that it needs to be replaced. You can save time and money by removing the switch yourself.

Things You'll Need

  • Open-end wrench
  • Phillip's head screwdriver
  • Unfasten the negative battery cable of the Pontiac Aztek from the battery post with an open-end wrench to prevent electric shock while removing the power window switch.

  • Remove the screws on the driver's side door panel arm rest with a Phillip's head screwdriver and set the arm rest off to the side.

  • Detach the screw on the bottom of the power window switch with a Phillip's head screwdriver and remove the window switch from the door panel just enough to see the electrical wiring connectors on the back of the switch.

  • Unplug the electrical wiring connectors from the metal prongs on the back of the power window switch and remove the switch from the door panel of the Pontiac Aztek.
