How to Change the Running Lights on a 1500 Goldwing

The running lights on the Honda Goldwing 1500 double as the motorcycle's turn signals on both the front and rear of the bike. The motorcycle also has running lights on the saddlebags, if they've been equipped. The lights on the front, back and saddle bags all require different processes for changing. However, each set of lights is relatively straightforward to change.

Front Running Lights

  • Locate the square access panel on the backside of the faring and remove the screws that secure it in place using a screwdriver. Pull the cover off the faring.

  • Turn the socket for the light bulb counterclockwise and pull it out of the light's housing.

  • Pull the bulb out of the socket and press the new bulb into the socket. Place the socket into the light's housing and turn it clockwise.

  • Place the cover back onto the faring and secure it using the screws and screwdriver.

Rear lights

  • Remove the screw from the cover that secures the taillight lens to the taillight housing with a screwdriver and pull the lens off the housing.

  • Pull the bulb out of the socket and press the new bulb into the socket.

  • Place the lens back onto the housing and secure it with the screw and screwdriver.

Saddlebags

  • Open the lid to the saddlebag and empty the bag of its contents.

  • Locate and remove the screws that hold the light panel cover onto the inner casing of the saddlebag with a screwdriver.

  • Turn the socket for the burned out light bulb counterclockwise and pull the socket out of the light housing.

  • Pull the bulb out of the socket and press the new bulb into the socket. Place the socket into the housing and turn the socket clockwise to secure it.

  • Place the cover back into the saddlebag and secure it using the screws and screwdriver.
