How to Repair a Keyless Entry Remote on a 2002 Lexus ES 300

All 2002 Lexus vehicles come with keyless entry remotes that allow you to lock and unlock your ES' doors and open the trunk with one push of a button when you are yards away from the vehicle. If you begin experiencing problems with your Lexus' keyless remote, don't panic. Follow a few simple steps to repair the remote on your own.

  • Replace the battery in your keyless remote. This is most likely the reason why your keyless remote no longer works. You can purchase a new battery at any auto parts store or Lexus service department. Your 2002 Lexus ES 300 takes a CR1616 three-volt battery.

  • Pry open the key fob of your keyless remote with a sharp tool, such as a butter knife or a flat head screwdriver, until the two pieces come apart. Take out the old battery, replace it with a new one and snap the fob back together. Test the keyless remote.
