How to Replace the Backup Lights on a Nissan 350Z

The backup lights on your Nissan 350Z are an important component of your vehicle's safety because they can help prevent parking lot fender benders and other accidents. As with any exterior light on a vehicle, the bulb in the backup light may burn out over time. If one of your Nissan's backup lights has burned out, replacing the bulb is a simple process that requires just a new T20 bulb, a socket wrench and a few minutes of your time.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Replacement bulb
  • Turn off your Nissan 350Z engine and open the trunk hatch.

  • Remove the three tabs behind the tail light assembly. Underneath each tab are three 10 mm nuts. Use a socket wrench to remove them.

  • Remove the two clips holding the tail light in place and pull the assembly out of the vehicle.

  • Pull out the old bulb and replace it with a new bulb. Do not touch the new bulb's glass surface with your bare hands or you may ruin the bulb.

  • Place the assembly back into the vehicle and reattach the two clips. Reinstall the three nuts and tabs and close the hatch.
