2000 Chrysler Concorde Battery Removal

You may need to remove the battery in your 2000 Chrysler Concorde for a number of maintenance reasons, particularly if you have electrical work you plan to perform on the vehicle. Due to the design of your Chrysler's battery compartment, you can remove the battery in under five minutes using basic tools -- whether you are on the side of the road, or in the comfort of your garage. If you have drained your battery, avoid causing sparks during removal, as this may result in an ignition of escaping battery gases.

Things You'll Need

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Remove the keys from the ignition of your Chrysler and turn off any electrical devices that may be in the "On" position. Leave the driver's door of the vehicle open so that the automatic locks do not prevent you from entering the vehicle when the battery is removed.

  • Remove the plastic lid top to the battery container.

  • Disconnect the negative terminal cable from the negative post of the battery. Prevent the negative terminal cable from touching any metal surfaces or the battery post. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive terminal post.

  • Remove the metal brace that holds the battery down by unscrewing the nut at the end of the brace.

  • Lift the battery out of the engine compartment.
