The 2003 Chevy Tahoe power window system relies on a window switch, window motor and window regulator to operate properly. If any of these three components fails, it renders the entire system inoperative. The motor transforms the electrical energy sent to it from the window switch into kinetic energy it uses to turn a gear on the window regulator, which moves the window itself. Remove the Tahoe window switch assembly from the door panel using the trim tool. Unplug the switch from the body harness by hand. Most auto-parts stores and professional tool vendors sell trim tools.
Remove the screws from the door panel with the Phillips screwdriver. Lift the Tahoe door panel up and off the door by hand to expose the interior access holes in the door.
Shove the window glass to the top of the channel by hand. Tape it in place with packing tape to prevent it from falling back down.
Unplug the body harness from the window motor by hand. Unbolt the window motor from the regulator and motor bracket with the socket set.
Pull the old motor out of the door by hand. Set the new motor in place. Bolt it to the bracket and regulator with the socket set. Plug the body harness into the new motor by hand.
Reinstall the door panel in reverse of how you removed it. Take the packing tape off of the window by hand before operating the power window.
