How to Repair a Small Ding or Dent on the Car

Finding a dent or ding on the side of your car can be discouraging. Fortunately, small dents and dings can be fixed at home relatively easily.

Things You'll Need

  • Dry ice
  • Dry ice gloves
  • Clean rag
  • Get a piece of dry ice that is around the same size of the ding or dent. Put on dry ice gloves before handling the dry ice.

  • Place the dry ice directly onto the dent for five seconds, and remove it. Wait up to five minutes, and reapply the dry ice in the same spot for five more seconds. In a few minutes, you will notice the dent beginning to pop out and the shape of the car returning to normal.

  • Repeat applications of the dry ice, followed by waiting periods of a three to five minutes, until the dent comes out completely.

  • Clean the dry ice residue with a clean rag.
