The Ford Fusion has power windows in all four doors. With just the touch of a button, you can move the window up or down effortlessly. Inside the door, the window motor takes the electronic signal from the switch and transforms that electricity into kinetic energy. The motor then turns a gear at its end that contacts a gear in the window regulator that mechanically moves the window glass. If the window motor fails and you have basic auto repair skills, you can replace it in about an hour.
Pry the power window switch bezel out of the door with a trim tool. Unplug the wiring connector from the switch.
Remove the trim covers from the door panel with the tip of the trim tool. Remove the fasteners located behind the covers with a socket set.
Lift the door panel up and off the door, guiding the inner door handle through the hole in the panel as you do so. Set the panel aside.
Push the window glass to the top of the channel by hand. Tape it in place with packing tape to make sure it cannot fall down into the door.
Unbolt the window regulator from the glass and the door with the socket set. Unbolt the window motor from the door support with the socket set.
Unplug the wiring connector from the window motor. Pull the window motor and regulator assembly out of the door.
Insert the new window motor/regulator assembly into the door. Bolt the regulator to the door and window glass with the socket set. Bolt the window motor to the door support with the socket set.
Plug the wiring connector into the new motor. Reinstall the door panel in reverse of how you removed it.
