How to Replace RX300 Headlights

True to its luxury branding, the Lexus RX300 offers a simple procedure for replacing the headlight bulbs. In many vehicles you have to remove the battery or coolant reservoir to gain access to the headlight, or employ screwdrivers or another tool to open the headlight assembly. Not so in the Lexus RX300. The process shouldn't take more than a few minutes and requires no special tools. The main concern is keeping the oils from your fingers away from the new bulb, since the oils reduce the bulb's lifespan.

Things You'll Need

  • Disposable gloves
  • Turn off your Lexus RX300 and prop open the hood.

  • Pull off the weather cap from the back of the headlight assembly.

  • Depress the tabs on the side of the wiring harness and pull it off the lightbulb socket.

  • Twist the lightbulb socket counterclockwise to remove it from the headlight. Pull the old bulb out of the socket and install a new one.

  • Reinsert the socket into the headlight assembly and secure it in place by twisting it clockwise. Reconnect the wiring harness.
