Ford Fusion Door Panel Removal

The Ford Motor Company introduced the Fusion in the 2006 model-year in the United States. Ford considered the Fusion as a replacement for the Escort and marketed it to the same demographic. Just as with the Escort, any work needed to one of the Fusion’s interior door components must first begin with door panel removal. With the right tools and some basic auto repair skill, you can have the door panel off your Fusion in under 30 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Trim tool
  • Pocket screwdriver
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Pry out the door handle bezel using the trim tool. You can pick up a trim tool at just about any auto parts retail outlet.

  • Pry out the round trim cover behind the door handle using a pocket screwdriver. Remove the screw behind this trim cover with a Phillips head screwdriver.

  • Pry the round trim cover out of the bottom of the door pull pocket. Remove the screw underneath the cover with the Phillips head screwdriver. Pry the door pull out of the door with the trim tool then disconnect the wiring harness from the window switch by hand.

  • Remove the upper rear and upper front round trim covers with the Phillips head screwdriver then remove the exposed screws with the Phillips head screwdriver. Remove the screw from the bottom center of the door panel next.

  • Lift the door panel up and off the door and set it aside.
