Whether traveling, carpooling or performing every day functions, the CR-V offers its owner lots of room for passengers and cargo. This versatility is the perfect reason to ensure that the maintenance is performed. One aspect of that maintenance is to replace the valve cover gasket.
Allow the engine to cool. Make sure that you park the car in an area that allows for maintenance to be performed on your CRV.
Disconnect the battery terminals and the clamp from the PCV valve.
Disconnect the bolts from the fuel injector bracket. Move aside and remove the remaining valve cover bolts.
Disconnect ignition coil wires and move the wiring aside. Remove the valve cover in the old gasket.
Clean the seating area with automotive engine cleaner. Place the new gasket into the seating area.
Replace the valve cover and tighten the bolts. Be careful not to over tighten as this may result in the gasket not fitting in a sitting area appropriately.
Reconnect ignition coil wires. Reconnect the bolts to the fuel injector bracket. Reconnect the clam for the PCV now and reconnect the battery terminals. Fill the car with oil and allow it to run idle.
