How to Remove a Fan on a Ford Pickup

In order to replace or upgrade the cooling fan system in your Ford pickup, you will need to remove the existing fan. The Ford pickup cooling fan is mounted to the engine with a clutch plate in the front, which regulates the movement of the fan. Removal of the Ford pickup fan takes about a half hour. You can remove the fan yourself, saving you the time and money of having a mechanic do the work for you.

Things You'll Need

  • Open-end wrench
  • Socket wrench set
  • Use an open-end wrench to unfasten the negative battery cable of the Ford Pickup from the battery post before attempting to remove the fan.
