Nobody likes to think about getting stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire, but Murphy's Law dictates that it will probably happen to you at the worst possible moment. As long as you carry a can of Fix-a-Flat in your car, it is easy to get back on the road and out of harm's way. Here is how to use Fix-a-Flat on a car tire.
Be sure that you are carrying the right size can of Fix-a-Flat for your car type. There are different size cans for small, medium, and large cars. If there is too little, the car tire will not seal and inflate properly.
Pull off to the side of the road (preferably a safe shoulder) as soon as you notice the tire going flat. If you drive too long on a flat tire, the rubber will eventually wear away from the rim and you will not have enough to save.
Remove the safety cap from the tire's air nozzle. Keep it in your hand so as not to lose it on the road.
Shake the can of Fix-a-Flat thoroughly.
Attach the nozzle of the can or the hose to the tire's air nozzle. The small cans for small cars will not come with a hose.
Press the nozzle as per the can's instructions. Hold down until the can is empty and the tire is sealed and inflated.
Drive to the nearest service station with an air supply for tires. The Fix-a-Flat will not fully inflate the tire, so you will want to add some additional air so your tire can get you the rest of the way to your destination.
Restock your vehicle with a new can of Fix-a-Flat as soon as possible.
