If you're looking for the fuel filter on your 2005 Ford Mustang GT, there's one thing you should know: it's hiding from you. The filter is under a black plastic cover Ford calls the fuel bundle shield. The shield is under the car, below the passenger compartment, near the driver-side door.
Before you replace the filter, relieve fuel pressure. After you install the new filter, tighten the filter mount brackets bolts to 44 inch-pounds and tighten the shield retaining nuts and bolts to 62 inch-pounds.
