Where to Place a Jack on a 2000 Subaru Legacy

There are several reasons you may need to know where to place the jack on your 2000 Subaru Legacy. The most common reason would be a flat tire, but many repairs also require lifting the car. Whether it is in your driveway or alongside the road, this is knowledge we should all have.

Jack Placement

  • Make sure the car is in park if it has an automatic transmission. If it has a manual transmission, place it in reverse. Set the parking brake. Look under the outside edge of the car; there are notches where the jack should be placed to raise the car. You will also see arrows on the rocker panel to show where the jack is to be placed. If available, use wheel chocks before raising the car. Never get under the car when it's only supported by the jack. If you are using a floor jack, it is best to place the jack under the frame. Once the car is up in the air you can place jack stands where the notch and arrow are. Then lower the car onto the jack stands. This will provide stability for working under the car.
