There are many issues that might require a 2000 Mercury Marquis owner to remove the dashboard in his car. The most common of these issues is a broken heater core or burned out lights in the instrument cluster. When it comes time to make a repair to one of these parts, the entire dashboard must first be removed in order for the owner to gain access to either of these parts. Removing the dashboard of a 2000 Mercury Marquis is not particularly difficult, but can cause permanent damage to the interior if done incorrectly.
Pry all the wood pieces off of the dash by pulling them away from the dash.
Use two Ford radio removal tools to remove the radio in the Marquis. Place one tool inside two of the four holes in the front of the radio, and the other tool in the other two holes. Pull them away from each other and out of the dashboard. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the stereo.
Remove the screws surrounding the radio using a Phillips head screwdriver. Do not forget to remove the two on the underside of the radio.
Remove all the screws around the instrument cluster using a Phillips head screwdriver.
Use the steering wheel tilt lever to tilt the steering wheel all the way down.
Gently pry out the dash, making sure to disconnect the two wiring harnesses behind the dashboard panel before pulling it out completely.
