Replacing the side-view door mirror on the Buick Regal is a very expensive repair at the local body shop or repair station. Not only are the replacement mirrors expensive, but the labor to install them will double, it not triple the bill. Because replacing the mirror requires removing the interior door trim panel, many do-it-yourself enthusiasts may stay away from attempting this repair. Since the Buick Regal has been around for a few years, there may be a slight variance in replacement procedures, but overall, it's a standardized repair that can be done in the comfort of your own driveway or garage.
Locate and remove the door panel retaining screws. Depending on the model year of your Regal, they may be located in slightly different locations. Inspect the door panel carefully, and remove any vanity plastic plugs that may conceal the retaining screw with a plastic pry tool. One or two screws will be located near the arm rest/hand cup assembly. Another will be located in the interior door handle assembly.
Carefully pry the window control module away from the arm rest by prying it from the top and bottom with the plastic trim pry tool. Disconnect the wire harness connections beneath the module. Inspect the inside cavity of the window module for any remaining retaining screws.
Pry the door handle bezel away from the door panel carefully after you remove the retaining screw.
Pry the interior cover of the side-view mirror panel away from the door panel, if applicable. Some Regals may have a cover that is molded to the door panel itself.
Pry the door panel away from the door frame, starting at the bottom and working your way up both sides until the inside push/pull clips are unseated.
Lift up on the door panel when the push/pull clips are unseated, and then pull it a couple inches away from the door frame. Reach behind and disconnect the door handle assembly from the door panel and disconnect any remaining wire harness connections. Remove the door panel.
Remove the three retaining nuts holding the side-view mirror to the door frame. Remove any insulation to access the nuts. Use an appropriate-sized nut driver to remove the nuts.
Pry the mirror away from the exterior door frame to gently break away the gasket seal. If the replacement mirror did not come equipped with a new gasket, remove the old one from the broken mirror and install it onto the new one before installing the new mirror.
Reverse the steps to complete the new mirror installation.
