Place the slimjim up against the passenger's side window with the hook facing downward towards the door panel.
Gently peel back the window trim where the door panel meets the door glass and slide the slimjim down behind the door.
Negotiate the slimjim towards the lock rod on the BMW 318is, located near the door handle.
Push the slimjim down into the door panel until you feel the lock rod. Hook the lock rod with the hook of the slimjim and then pull up on the slimjim. When you hear the lock click, the door will be unlocked.
