How to Repair the Plastic Body of an ATV

Smashed your new ATV into a tree and cracked the plastic? Don't worry, you can avoid paying top dollar for factory replacement plastic with a few common tools and a few minutes of spare time. Follow this guide and get back on the trail in no time.

Things You'll Need

  • Drill and drill bit Several large or medium zip ties
  • Drill a hole at the interior end of the crack in the plastic. This should stop the crack from spreading.

  • Drill holes along the length of the crack, one on either side, spaced about 1 1/2 inches apart.

  • Use the zip ties to "lace up" the cracked plastic. Run the tie through the holes on either side of the crack, and pull tight. Leave the end of the zip tie on the underside of the plastic so it stays out of sight. Trim the excess from each stitch.
