How to Disarm a K-9 Alarm

Dedicated car thieves can gain access to your vehicle by picking the lock or smashing the window, then hot wire the car and speed away. The K-9 series of car alarms, manufactured by Omega Research, help protect your car when you aren't around. However, as motorists become more used to technology, they're increasingly looking for a blend of security and convenience. Omega Research realized this and included several ways for owners to disarm the product.

RFID

  • Press the remote control's button.

  • Hold the button down for 2 seconds. Watch for the LED light on the control to blink, which signals the RFID function is activated.

  • Walk toward your vehicle. The K-9 alarm will disarm once you get within 2 to 5 meters (6 to 15 feet) of the car.

Remote Control

  • Move within 2 to 5 meters (6 to 15 feet) of the alarmed vehicle.

  • Press the button on the remote control once. Do not hold down the button.

  • Listen for the siren to beep twice and watch for the parking lights to flash. The alarm is now disarmed and the vehicle's doors are unlocked.

Emergency Override

  • Unlock and open the driver's side door with your key. The K-9 system will register the entrance as an intrusion and activate, flashing the parking lights and sounding the alarm.

  • Slide your key into the ignition. Turn the car on.

  • Press the system's valet button on your dashboard to disarm the alarm. The exact timing and method used to press the valet button depends on your model. For example, you need to push the button once within five seconds of turning the key in the ignition if your car is protected by the K-9 Mundial model; whereas the K-9 Sombra model requires you to push the valet button a personally preset number of times with 20 seconds of turning the key.
