How to Install a Viper Car Alarm

Even car-owners protected by a good insurance policy may not be totally compensated for stolen vehicles. A car alarm can offer preventive protection of your vehicle by warding off or frightening would-be thieves. The Viper car alarm activates the lights, siren, and door locks in the event of an attempted break-in. It is operated and figured via remote control. According to the manufacturer, only trained car electronics professionals should install the device, as improper installation could damage the vehicle's electrical components.

  • Connect the primary wiring harness. Connect the brown siren output to the red siren wire and connect the black siren wire to the chassis. The yellow wire is connected to the ignition wire.

  • Connect the black and white high voltage wire to the dome light. Connect the orange ground-when-armed wire to the other end of the black and white wire.

  • Set up the auxiliary wire harness by connecting the gray wire to the hood pinswitch. Attach the gray and black wire to the channel 6 output.

  • Install the door lock harness wires. Connect the black and white wire to an on-board interior light. Connect the H3/B wire to the power locks circuit.

  • Install the peripheral plug-in harness by plugging in the LED to the two-pin white port. Be careful not to short the LED wires to ground as this can damage the system.

  • Mount the transceiver high on the front or rear windshield. Install it vertically to achieve optimal range.
