The factory-installed navigation system for General Motors vehicles must be unlocked before it can be used. Most of the time, the dealership will install the necessary DVD. However, the dealership may leave installation up to the customer. The navigation system is an option on most GM vehicles, and it is helpful when drivers travel to unfamiliar destinations.
Start the engine of the GM vehicle.
Place the vehicle in "Park."
Press the "Power" button on the navigation system and press the "NAV" hard key, located at the top left side menu of the system.
Touch "Insert Map Disk" located on the center top portion of the touchscreen. The touchscreen will open, revealing the disk slot.
Insert the Map DVD provided by the GM dealer into the DVD slot. The system will automatically take the DVD and close the screen. The navigation system is now unlocked and ready to use.
