How to Troubleshoot a JVC KD-R300

JVC's KD-R300 CD automobile receiver is supplied with a detachable face and remote control. The in-dash receiver is compatible with iPods, satellite radio and HD radio. The disc player can be used with MP3 files burned to CD as well as pre-recorded CDs. Problems with the receiver can be related to the unit not working at all, discs getting jammed, the radio or Bluetooth short-range radio pairing.

Things You'll Need

  • Pen
  • Reset the unit if the device won't work at all. Pull the faceplate off by pressing the button on the left lower corner and insert the tip of a ballpoint pen into the "Reset" hole on the right side of the back plate. The hole is in the lower corner. This cures most program-type problems, but all of your preset adjustments will be erased with the exception of some Bluetooth settings relating to the devices registered.

  • Forcibly eject a disc if the disc won't come out with the "Eject" button. The disc may be damaged, or the wrong type. Press the "Power" button and hold it at the same time as pressing the "Eject" button. If this does not work, reset the unit.

  • Check the "SRC SELECT" to "AM" setting if the AM radio does not work. The AM radio may be off. Press and hold "Menu" and then rotate the large round knob to the "SRC SELECT" setting. Make sure "AM" is on.

  • Enter the same code for both the unit and pairing device when trying to connect with Bluetooth. If the JVC cannot find the phone, then try the reverse and have the phone find the JVC. Keep in mind that only one phone and one music player can be connected by Bluetooth at any one time. Go through your equipment and check for a second device that may be inadvertently connected.
