How to Program a Chevrolet Key Fob

You can program Chevrolet keyless entry remote-control key fobs from your car just like you can program the key fob remotes of a variety of other makes and models. These remotes can be synced to your transmitter from your driver's seat using only the remote itself and your ignition key. With the ability to program up to four remotes to the system, you can set your whole family up with access to your car's keyless system.

  • Close all of the doors on your vehicle except for the driver's door, and sit in the driver's seat with the key in the ignition.

  • Remove the key from the ignition and lock and unlock the car five times, at one second intervals, using the lock/unlock tab on the driver's door.

  • Close and open the driver's door, cycle the lock five more times using the lock/unlock tab on the driver's door, and insert the key into the ignition.

  • Cycle the key to the "On" position (do not start the engine) and then "Off" one time, then remove the key from the ignition.

  • Press any button on your remote for two seconds and wait for the locks to click to indicate successful programming of the remote and the end of the procedure. Conduct the process again for the next key fob remote.
