How to Install VW Seat Covers

Seat covers in any Volkswagen help to protect the seats. The seats in VWs get stained, ripped, worn out, faded and suffer other damage throughout the life of the vehicle. Installing seat covers is not difficult to do, will only take about 10 minutes and tools are not necessary. In fact, everything you need for installation is included in the seat cover package.

Installing Front Seat Covers

  • Remove the headrest from the two front seats. Pull up on the headrest and push the button on the side of the hole that the headrest came out of. Pull the front seat covers over each front seat then pull the cover down to completely cover the seat. Push the straps connected to the seat cover through the bottom of the seat and around the edges, while pulling the seat cover, until it conforms to the shape of the seat.

  • Fasten the seat cover to the underside of the seat using the hooks connected to the seat cover. The metal frame under the seat will hold the hooks in place.

  • Slip the headrest cover over the headrest. Connect the snaps so that they are under the headrest. Smooth out any wrinkles. Replace each headrest on the top of its respective seat.

Installing Rear Seat Covers

  • Stretch the seat cover over the entire rear seat. Push the seat cover hooks through the gap between the seat and the backrest toward the trunk. Pull the rear seat down.

  • Connect the hooks to the rear seat frame in the trunk behind the back seat.

  • Smooth out any wrinkles. Lift the rear seat up then push it in until it locks into place.
