How to Install a Dodge Neon Cold Air Intake

Installing a cold air intake into your Dodge Neon is one of the most affordable and effective ways to instantly increase the performance of your car. Cold air intakes are a small and easy upgrade for most car owners; however, the installation of a cold air intake into a Dodge Neon is slightly more complicated. This is due to the fact that the intake of the Dodge Neon runs from the throttle body into the driver's side fender wall.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench
  • Jack
  • Tire iron
  • Jack stand
  • Screwdriver
  • Open the hood and remove any tubes and wiring harnesses that are connected to the intake assembly. This is the piece that starts at your throttle body and goes into your fender.

  • Remove the clamps on the intake box and remove the top of it. Then remove the four bolts on the bottom to remove the bottom half.

  • Use a jack to lift the front driver's side of the Neon and use a tire iron to remove the bolts on the wheel and remove it.

  • Unscrew the two bolts on the inside of the fender that hold the resonator in place, then remove the resonator from the fender.

  • Place the wheel back onto the car and bolt it back into place. Then lower the car and remove the jack.

  • Unscrew the hose clamp on the throttle body and remove the intake assembly.

  • Place the provided rubber coupler on the throttle body then secure it with a hose clamp.

  • Slide the new intake assembly into the rubber coupler and position it into the fender wall. Secure it in place with another hose clamp onto the rubber coupler.

  • Place the disconnected tubes and wiring harnesses into the provided holes in the new intake assembly.
