If you need more power and performance from your Jeep Grand Cherokee, you can replace the exhaust with a larger, more flowing design. The stock exhaust restricts air flow from the engine. A new exhaust will increase the air flow which will, in turn, increase the gas mileage and decrease the engine temperature. Exhaust systems can be purchased online or from your local auto parts store. Installation can be completed yourself with basic hand tools.
Unscrew the bolts on the muffler flanges with a ratchet and socket.
Remove the muffler from its rubber hangers. Lower it to the ground.
Detach the tailpipe assembly from the rubber hangers then remove it from the vehicle.
Install the muffler into the rubber isolators. Slide it into the catalytic converter.
Place a clamp on the front side of the muffler and tighten it with a ratchet and socket.
Install the tailpipe into the rubber isolators. Press the tailpipe into the rear outlet of the muffler. Install the clamp and tighten it with the ratchet and socket.
Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
