How to Set Up a Sirius Satellite Radio

Sirius Satellite Radio gives the user hundreds of different radio channels to choose from. It is a subscription based service, and one of its benefits is that you can drive across the country without having to change radio channels, thanks to the service's powerful satellite signal. Installing a Sirius Satellite Radio unit in your vehicle can be done in less than an hour.

Things You'll Need

  • Plastic putty knife
  • Pick a spot in the vehicle to install the Sirius Satellite Radio unit. On top of the dashboard works best.

  • Peel back the adhesive strip on the dashboard mounting unit that comes with the Sirius Satellite Radio unit and place it on top of the dashboard.

  • Peel back the adhesive strip from the antennae that comes with the Sirius Satellite Radio. Place it on top of the vehicle either 3 inches away from the front windshield or 3 inches away from back windshield in the center of the vehicle.

  • Run the antennae wire along the vehicle. Place it along the rubber window seals and through the weather stripping on the vehicle's door or trunk using a plastic putty knife and into the vehicle. Connect it to the input jack on the mounting unit.

  • Put one end of the power cord into one of the vehicles cigarette lighters. Put the other end in the power input jack on the mounting unit.

  • Put one end of an auxiliary cable into your car stereos auxiliary input jack, and the other end into the auxiliary input on the mounting unit. Put the Sirius Satellite Radio unit in the mounting unit and turn it on.
